Grammar
In this section, you can find definitions and descriptions for the many grammatical terms used throughout the dictionary, as well a description of Tłı̨chǫ grammar more generally.
This section is divided into four major parts. First is a section defining what exactly we refer to when we say 'the Tłı̨chǫ language', describing the language's geographic distribution, dialectal variation, vital statistics, and relation to other Dene languages. Second is a section on the Tłı̨chǫ sound system, describing the sounds used in the Tłı̨chǫ language, how these sounds are represented in writing, and how these sounds can be combined. Thirdly is a section on the types of words used in Tłı̨chǫ, such as nouns, verbs, adpositions, and so on. This section describes each type of word (or 'part of speech'), how it is used, and how it can be modified with grammatical information. Finally, there is a section in Tłı̨chǫ sentence structure (or 'syntax'). This section describes how Tłı̨chǫ words can be put together to form full sentences, and how sentence structures can be changed to covey different meanings.
